Compare / MHP vs. CookUnity for Business

MHP vs. CookUnity. Both quality-driven, different shape.

CookUnity for Business is a chef-driven national meal-prep delivery program — individual boxes shipped from a multi-chef commissary network. MHP is a single-kitchen Southern California operator running recurring catering, Smart Fridge, and weekly meal-prep from one in-house kitchen. Both deliver chef-quality food; the on-site model is different.

The core model difference

Both call it chef-driven. The chefs, the kitchens, and the delivery model are different.

CookUnity = multi-chef national network

Multiple chefs across a national commissary footprint. Each employee picks meals from a rotating roster, individually shipped. The chef-driven angle is breadth — dozens of chefs to choose from, new options every week.

MHP = one kitchen

One Rancho Cucamonga kitchen, one chef-led menu rotation. The chef-driven angle is depth — the same chef refining the same recipes over years, with menus built for the SoCal workforce.

CookUnity = individual delivery

Boxes ship to the workplace or to employee homes. Each box is individual, packed at the commissary, opened at the desk or at home. Anchor-day lunches mean each employee unboxes their own.

MHP = on-site service models

Recurring hot-buffet catering for the team to self-serve. Smart Fridge stocked on-site for 24/7 grab-and-go. Weekly meal-prep boxes shipped to your worksite. Multiple delivery models, one operator.

When MHP fits better

When you need a shared meal on-site.

If the goal is a single team lunch — everyone sharing the same buffet on anchor days — MHP is the structural fit. Individual delivery boxes don't create the same on-site experience. Same kitchen every week, same recipes, the team eats together. Add a Smart Fridge for 24/7 coverage, and the model layers cleanly.

  • Recurring catering for anchor-day lunch
  • Smart Fridge for multi-shift coverage
  • SoCal-only operations
  • Bilingual or workforce-specific menus matter

Individual meal-prep delivery for distributed teams
When CookUnity fits better

When the team is distributed or wants individual choice.

If your team is distributed nationally, employees want to pick their own meals each week, or the need is meal-prep delivered to homes (not on-site service) — CookUnity for Business is built for that. The multi-chef rotating roster gives employees variety, the national footprint covers distributed teams.

  • National or multi-region distributed team
  • Individual employee meal selection is the point
  • Delivery to employee homes (not the workplace)
  • Variety over consistency in menu

Common questions

Both are "chef-driven." What does that actually mean? +
CookUnity's chef-driven model is breadth — a rotating roster of chefs creates menu variety. MHP's chef-driven model is depth — one chef refining the menu over years, with the chef in the kitchen cooking. Both produce good food; the chef-driven framing means different things.
Can CookUnity do on-site team lunch? +
Through individual meal-prep delivered to the office, yes — but each employee receives their own box. The shared on-site buffet model is not what CookUnity is built for. MHP's recurring catering is the fit for that experience.
Do you both work in Southern California? +
CookUnity ships nationally including SoCal. MHP only operates in Southern California — Greater LA, the Inland Empire, and Orange County. Outside that footprint, CookUnity has the geographic reach MHP doesn't.
Can we use both? +
Yes. Some employers run MHP for on-site programs at SoCal sites and CookUnity for distributed teammates in other regions. The two models do different jobs.
